Chief Minister MK Stalin has included COVID-19 treatment under TN Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme 2021 on its first day. CM Stalin mentioned that the Tamil Nadu state government will bear the full cost of the coronavirus treatment as it is now included in the CMCHIS. On the first day in office, the Tamil Nadu CM signed five important files.

  1. Rupee. 4000 TN Kovid Relief Scheme: The first was to provide financial assistance of Rs. 4,000 (Rice Card Ration Card Holder) as COVID relief to each family. An amount of Rs. 4000 will be paid in 2 installments and the first installment of the COVID relief package will be transferred in May 2021. This scheme will help the affected citizens due to the epidemic and help their livelihood. To implement this, the Chief Minister has signed an order to provide the first installment of Rs 2,000 for Rs 4,153.69 crore in May covering 2,07,67,000 ration card holders,
  2. Reduction in milk prices of state run: Stalin priced Avin Milk at Rs. Ordered to decrease. 3 per liter from 16 May 2021.
  3. Free travel plans for women / girls: Free travel for working women and girls pursuing higher education on board government buses (ordinary fare) across the state. Women can travel free in all ordinary fare city buses operated by the State Transport Corporation from 8 May 2021 and the government has paid Rs. 1,200 crore as subsidy for this purpose.
  4. 100 days Grievance Redressal: The CM ordered to implement a grievance redressal mechanism to resolve the problems within 100 days. CM Stalin has “approved the formation of a department headed by an IAS officer to implement”.Chief Minister in your constitution plan“To complete another assurance within 100 days of redress of people’s issues, on petitions received by him before the elections as DMK chief.
  5. Free COVID-19 treatment at CMCHIS: The CM also ordered that the state government bear the cost of Kovid-19 treatment as it is now covered under the CM Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. Stalin announced the introduction of COVID-19 treatment in government hospitals under a government insurance scheme to provide relief to such people.

What is TN Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme 2021

The Chief Minister Composite Health Insurance Scheme has been launched by the Government of Tamil Nadu through a public sector insurance company headquartered in United India Insurance Company Limited, Chennai (Chennai). The scheme now covers 1.57 crore families, including migrant workers and unspecified orphans. Tamil Nadu CMCHIS provides quality health care to eligible individuals through government and private hospitals. The plan aims to reduce financial hardship for enrolled families and move towards universal health coverage by effectively connecting them with the public health system.

How to enroll for Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme in Tamil Nadu

If any eligible person wanted to enroll for the Chief Minister’s overall health insurance scheme, the following steps should be followed for this: –

  • Please obtain a family income certificate from VAO.
  • The head / member of the family should bring the original ration card along with Xerox copy to the district kiosk along with the income certificate.
  • The DK operator, after verification of the documents, will enroll the member by capturing demographic and bio-metric details.
  • After capturing the photograph of the members, the eCard will be generated and released to the beneficiary.

Eligibility Criteria under Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme

Here is the eligibility criteria to avail the Chief Minister’s overall health insurance scheme.

  • This scheme is for the resident of Tamil Nadu, whose name is present in the family card. CMCHIS is applicable for those whose annual income is Rs. is less than. 72,000 per year.
  • To be eligible for benefits under the scheme, it is sufficient to produce family cards and income certificates by VAO / Revenue officials along with the self-declaration of the head of the family concerned.
  • “Family” includes eligible members and members of his family such as a detailed statement – (i) the legal spouse of the eligible person (ii) the child of the eligible person (iii) the dependent parent of the eligible person, provided that if any above , (i), (ii) or (iii) in any of the categories, if the person finds a place in the family card, it shall be presumed that the person is a member of the family and no further confirmation shall be required.
  • Sri Lankan refugees in the camps are also eligible without any income limit.
  • Migrants from other states can also join this CMCHIS on the basis of a request letter with a list of eligible members from the Labor Department, provided that they have been in the state for more than six months certified by the appropriate authority.
  • Orphans residing in any registered / unregistered organization can be given a single card. It also includes the rescued girl’s children and any other person defined by the government as an orphan.

How to link Aadhaar with URN

  • Existing beneficiaries will open this tab ”CMCHIS online“.
  • Please enter your 22 digit URN in the given slot.
  • To enter your Aadhaar number, click on the check box for approval.
  • Click on the Enroll Now button and the user will be redirected to a page where the user has to select a family member and enter their Aadhaar number and mobile number in the box provided.
  • After entering the Aadhaar number and your mobile number, click on the submit button. The user will receive an OTP on the given mobile number. Enter that OTP in the box provided. You will receive a message as “Your Aadhaar number has been successfully registered”.
  • If your Aadhaar number is already associated with the URN, you will receive a message as “Already Registered”.

Benefits of Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme

CMCHIS seeks to facilitate cashless hospitalization for certain specified diseases / procedures. The plan provides coverage of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per year on a floater basis for diseases and procedures covered under the Chief Minister’s Collective Health Insurance Scheme. The list of procedures is also available in the CMCHISTN website. The plan also provides for any other specific procedures listed in Annex “C” and follow-up treatment for follow-up treatment in addition to the diagnostic procedures listed under Annex “F”.

The Chief Minister’s comprehensive health insurance plan has broadened its coverage and includes 321 more medical procedures. The Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme was renewed on 10 January 2017, with the United India Insurance Company. The plan will have more than 1,100 treatment procedures, including coverage of congenital anomalies. The government has given Rs. Renewed the contract for four years with an annual premium payment of Rs. 1,069 crore.

According to the information received from the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, the government has given Rs. 699 per family basis while earlier amount was Rs. 497. It is the responsibility of the departments to implement the plan properly.

The Tamil Nadu State Health Insurance Scheme will include treatments and procedures including heart and lung transplant, cochlear implant, bone marrow transport, radiation therapy, surgical oncology. For the first time in India, it is the first plan to introduce a bariatric surgery covering morbid obesity. The coverage amount under the scheme has been increased from Rs. 1.5 lakhs. 2.0 lakhs and then Rs. 5 lakhs for surgical procedures. This is the first attempt of the Tamil Nadu State Government towards providing health insurance cover to migrant workers and orphans. Due to lack of documentation, address and proof of residence, the scheme had not been benefiting this category for a long time. With some amendments and amendments to the state health insurance scheme, the government hopes to reach out to workers and their children who have no or little to no documentation.
