Bihar Government has launched a new Child Support Scheme 2021 for the children orphaned due to COVID-19. In this scheme, State Govt. Will provide monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1500 to coronavirus orphans. All such children, whether boy or girl, who have lost one of their parents due to COVID-19, will be given Rs. 1500 per month.

Mukhyamantri Bal Sahayata Yojana 2021 has been started by the Bihar State Government. To provide monthly assistance, free education to the COVID-19 orphan children. Now you will be able to know about the announcement made by the Chief Minister regarding the Chief Minister’s Child Support Scheme.
The CM mentioned “By the way, in case of death of the girl child, at least one will die of corona, till the ‘Bal Madad Yojana’ is in the state, it will be Rs. 1500 per month.” He also added that “all the members of the orphans and girls who have sanskars are in the Bal Griha. Thus the Kasturba Gandhi of the orphan girls begins after the birth of the child in the girl child”.
Salient Features of Bihar Child Support Scheme
Important features and salient features of Bihar Bal Sahayata Yojana 2021 are as follows:-
- All those children whose parents or either of the parents have died due to COVID-19 will get Rs. 1,500 per month.
- This amount will be given to the COVID-19 orphans till they attain the age of 18 years.
- Orphans without guardian i.e. parents/caregivers will not be taken to the Children’s Home.
- Nomination of Kovid orphan girls will be done on priority basis in Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools.
The central government as well as states like Haryana, UP and the NCT of Delhi have announced similar measures for children who lost a parent to COVID-19. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh announced Bal Seva Scheme to take care of coronavirus orphan children.

Bihar has shown signs of abatement in the raging wave of COVID-19. As of 30 May 2021, the state saw a significant drop in the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the death toll from the disease.
According to the state health department, the death toll reached 5,052 due to the addition of 48 new people, while 1,491 people tested positive since the previous day, taking the tally to 7.04 lakh. Bihar has reported over 600 COVID-19 deaths in the last one week. On several days, the death toll was close to 100, and sometimes it would even break the three-digit mark.
